Netflix has teased the exciting return of “Black Mirror,” which has assembled a stellar cast for its seventh season scheduled to debut in 2025
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the show, one of Netflix's best, uses its own dark satire to poke fun at the horrors of technological innovation with a computer error screen that quickly lists the actors who will appear in the next six episodes The cast includes big names from incredible shows such as Jimmi Simpson of [Westworld], Paul Giamatti of [Billions], and Christine Milioti of [The Penguin] fame Other cast members include Emma Colin (“Deadpool and Wolverine”), Harriet Walter (“Succession”), and Louis Gribben (“Blade Runner 2099”)
Little information has been given about the nature of these characters and the horrors they will face in the alternate universe designed by “Black Mirror” creator Charlie Brooker, but the USS Callister's fateful appearance in season 4 return should be exciting for longtime fans of the series
Despite co-starring Aaron Paul and Josh Hartnett for a retro-futuristic experience based on the Manson Family murders, 2023's “Black Mirror” Season 6 was “less sharp” than its predecessor, largely due to the fact that it was not as well-received That season 6 also attracted many actors, but fell short of its darker, anti-technological themes, especially in two episodes that featured more supernatural concepts as opposed to the fan-favorite science fiction conventions
Season 7, scheduled to appear in 2025, aims to address these concerns with the return of the fan favorite USS Callister, who last appeared in the first episode of season 4 In this episode, Jesse Plemons plays Robert Daley, a video game programmer who feels underappreciated
Robert Daley himself may be dead at the end of the episode, but the rest of the crew (including returning cast members Christine Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, and Mikaela Cole) are still in grave danger; Netflix released a teaser in March showing the USS Callister and her crew's return to the USS with the broadly advertised statement simply, “Their problems are just beginning”
Little is known about the rest of Season 7; Netflix has released the full cast list and assembled some big names that could help boost the next installment; see below for the full list of the 19 cast members:
