The 30th anniversary of the original PlayStation is fast approaching To commemorate the occasion, Sony will release a limited-edition PlayStation 5 console and accessories with a nostalgic design reminiscent of the original console
Sony first released the original PlayStation console in Japan in December 1994, and as that date approaches, the electronics giant is making the commemorative event more exciting
North America and Europe had to wait until September 1995, and Australia until November
Sony plans to sell this collection in limited quantities and in a variety of flavors The collection will feature the original PlayStation gray color design and the familiar four-color logo
The collection will be sold in two bundles: the PS5 Digital Edition console and the PS5 Pro version Also available will be the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers, as well as the 30th anniversary model of the PS Portal
Sony's full lineup and bundles include:
PlayStation 5 Pro console - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition bundle
PS5 Digital Edition - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition bundle
sold separately
According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, the company will only sell 12,300 PS5 Pro console bundles, and the console will be engraved with a limited edition number
No word on how many of the other 30th anniversary items will be sold or how long they will be available According to the blog, they will be sold in “very limited supply”
Pre-orders for 30th anniversary items will begin on September 26 Sony states that the hardware will begin shipping in November
The blog does not mention pricing, but it is assumed that the price of each item will be the same as what already exists However, we do not know how much of the bundle items will be included, whether that will be added to the price, or whether those extras are bonuses
The packaging of the 30th Anniversary Edition is a facsimile of the original PlayStation packaging
The entire collection looks amazing At the very least, we might pick up a controller
