PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection Now Available for Pre-Order - How to Get Your Hands on Limited Edition PS5 Pro, Dual Sense, PlayStation Portal and More

Pre-orders for the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection are now open Unfortunately, securing the limited edition PS5 Pro bundle (only 12,300 units worldwide) proved to be a difficult task, as the $999 package sold out within minutes

In case you missed the announcement, the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection celebrates 30 years of Sony gaming The original PlayStation celebrates its 30th anniversary this year (it was released in Japan in December 1994), and to mark the occasion, Sony has redesigned the PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro, and a complete set of accessories, including the DualSense Edge controller, in a brilliant grayscale design

Announced in a post on the PlayStation Blog, this anniversary series is a dream come true for nostalgic PlayStation gamers The bad news, however, is that duffers will try to buy up as much inventory as possible and sell it to us regular gamers at a higher price So let us help you get your hands on a PS5 console, a DualSense controller, and a PlayStation Portal Anniversary Edition for the suggested retail price

As of Wednesday, October 10 at 12 pm ET, the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection is sold out in the US, but the PS5 Slim Digital Edition will be back in stock at select retailers tomorrow (October 10) at 7 am ET As of 10:00 am Eastern Time

Thursday, September 26 (BST), the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection is available for pre-order in the UK However, stock is limited, so be quick

The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will be available on November 21, but with a pre-order period in place, it is likely that most (if not all) of the stock will sell out months before the collection is released Therefore, if you are targeting game consoles or accessories, you will need to be prepared ahead of time

Starting Thursday, September 26, the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle, PlayStation Portal 30th Anniversary Limited Edition, and DualSense Edge 30th Anniversary Limited Edition will only be available for order via PlayStation Direct (PlayStation Direct is not available in those regions, stock will be held at an unannounced “participating retailer”)

Also on September 26, the PS5 Slim Digital Edition 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle and the regular DualSense 30th Anniversary Limited Edition will also be available for pre-order via PlayStation Direct Pre-ordering will begin

The PS5 Slim, however, will not be available outside of PlayStation Direct starting October 10 Sony is certainly making this all a bit confusing

In other words, if you are in the US, the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Collection will be available at PlayStation Direct starting September 26; the PS5 Slim and DualSense controller will be available from “participating retailers,” but the PS5 Pro bundle PS5 Pro bundle, DualSense Edge, and PlayStation Portal will be (at least for now) exclusive to PlayStation Direct in the US

The most important advice at this stage is to create a PlayStation account in advance; PlayStation Network accounts are used to shop at PlayStation Direct, and if you do not currently have one, please create one ASAP Create an account The pre-order process requires a quick checkout, and account servers can become unstable; a situation where you put a PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Bundle in your basket, but the item disappears from your basket because you didn't create an account is We want to avoid this

The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection consists of five items The star of the show is the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Limited Edition BundIe, which includes a special edition gray PS5 Pro console, DualSense controller, DualSense Edge controller, DualSense charging station, Vertical stand, console cover for the disc drive (but the actual disc drive must be purchased separately for $79)

Other nifty extras included in the bundle include a controller cable (similar to the cable that connected the original PS1 controller to the console) controller cable (which I think is incredibly cool), four PlayStation Shapes cable ties, PlayStation branded stickers and paperclips, and a limited edition PlayStation poster (you get one of 30 different designs) (you get one of 30 different designs)

The PS5 Pro bundle will be available in quantities of 12,300 units, and each PS5 Pro will have a serial number engraved on the side

For those not inclined to purchase the Pro, a nostalgic gray-toned PS5 Slim Digital Edition is available This package includes the console cover for the disc drive (the actual drive is sold separately), a vertical stand, controller cable, cable ties, stickers, paper clips, and a limited edition poster

If you don't want to buy a new PS5 console, you can get a PS1-themed PlayStation Portal, a DualSense Edge, or a regular DualSense controller

At the time of this writing, Sony has not yet confirmed pricing for these items However, given that the base price of the PS5 Pro is $699/£699 and that it will come with the DualSense Edge (worth $199) and all the exclusive extras, we expect this bundle to be in the four-figure price range The rest of us expect the price to be about the same as the price of the regular, non-limited edition product (maybe $5-$10 more) However, this is only an estimate, and we will add more details on pricing as they become available

Unfortunately, there is little chance that the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will be a bargain Since the availability of this console is limited, just being able to pre-order it at a fixed price may be considered a “bargain” Indeed, Prime Big Deal Days are just around the corner, but there is no incentive for retailers or Sony to offer discounts, as was seen with the original PS5
