OnePlus' next-generation OxygenOS is taking some cues, if not a direct copy, from Apple's iOS 18
The news was first reported by Smatprix, who broke down some of the notable changes coming for OxygenOS 15 These include a completely revamped control center
No actual images were released with this report, but they do give a good idea of what to expect The new control center will likely include a 2x2 media player, a 1x2 brightness slider, and a 1x2 volume panel Another important change, rumored to be coming with Android 16, is the split notification and control center
The update also allows users to customize the Control Center, much like the Control Center in iOS 18 They can also easily revert back to the previous layout iOS-based changes are not limited to the Control Center; the volume slider has also been updated The new slider resembles that of Apple's cell phones, being larger the first time and narrower when pressed again
Besides the control center changes, OxygenOS 15 reintroduces Live Photos, which is functionally identical (even the same name) to the iPhone However, it is unclear if OxygenOS will allow for a single video like the iPhone There are a few customization options, such as making the lock screen 3D Still, overall, it is not as detailed as the iPhone's home screen customization
Finally, the new update will reportedly introduce a dynamic island for notifications, similar to the iPhone 16's dynamic island This new screen detail will be placed over the center punch hole instead of on the left side Also, the “Never Settle” Easter egg will return, much to the delight of longtime OnePlus fans The Easter egg will appear when you type 1+ into the calendar and press the equals sign, and Never Settle will pop up again
The OxygenOS beta is expected to drop at the end of this month or early next month We don't know exactly which phones will be able to use it, but we do have reviews for both the OnePlus 12 and One Plus 12R, which are likely candidates
