One of the most intense thriller films ever made it into the Top 10 on Prime Video

While popular films such as “Gifted” and “Challenger” are in the Prime Video spotlight, a film with a twist is quietly making its way into the top 10 Currently in ninth place is “The Menu” (as of September 23), a dark satirical thriller that received rave reviews upon its 2022 release [Ralph Fiennes plays an enigmatic chef and Anja Taylor-Joy a skeptical diner in “The Menu,” which takes us on an extraordinary dining experience on a remote island The film is more enjoyable if you watch it without knowing the twist Also, this film definitely deserves to be in the top 10, and it's great to see it being loved again after a two-year hiatus

With an impressive score by Rotten Tomatoes and a compelling story that keeps the viewer hooked, “The Menu” has earned its deserved place as a must-see thriller But does the film really live up to the hype? Here's everything you need to know about the film and whether it's worth watching on the best streaming services right now

“The Menu” is a dark satirical thriller that follows a group of wealthy diners who travel to a remote island to experience an exceptional meal at a world-renowned restaurant The meal is prepared by Julian (Ralph Fiennes), a famous chef known for his extraordinary cuisine and mysterious personality

Among the diners are Tyler (Nicholas Hoult), an avid gourmand, and his skeptical date Margot (Anya Taylor-Joy), who immediately senses something is wrong As the course meal progresses, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary dinner Each course is served with increasing tension and disturbing revelations, especially surrounding the guests and the strange chef

Unlike most thrillers, “Menu” simmers the tension slowly And once that tension reaches its peak, you will stare at the screen in shock I went into this film not knowing what to expect (I didn't even check the trailer), and it turned out to be one of the biggest surprises of the year Plus, it had some of the wildest twists and turns I've ever seen in a thriller film

I know all the plot twists, so I don't want to give too much away But it is only natural to mention the standout feature of The Menu, and that is its commitment to subtlety This dark thriller doesn't rely on flashy jump scares to get the audience's heart racing Instead, it rests on the brilliant Ralph Fiennes, who gives a chilling and flawless performance as Julian Slowik, the respected chef in charge of the kitchen

Fiennes is undeniably one of the most accomplished actors and really stands out in this film He knows how to be charming and menacing at the same time, enough to keep anyone on the edge of their seat As someone who loves horror and has seen my fair share of scary things, I enjoy movies that are not overtly scary, but rather unsettling

But another important element here is the dynamic between the two protagonists Tyler is intoxicated by the idea of dining at Slowik's table, while Margot embodies our every thought as we watch the story unfold Anja Taylor-Joy does an excellent job playing a character who feels trapped in a place where she should feel at home (considering she is surrounded by good food) It is she whom you empathize with the most, and she ultimately becomes the anchor of this intensely unpredictable thriller

I am not alone in being pleasantly surprised by this film Critics gave “The Menu” a high score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, with a solid 76% audience rating The Daily Telegraph's Robbie Collin described the film, without spoiling it: “A dark comic thriller of rare, mouth-watering bad taste in which every scene inspires and savors the next

If you're in the mood for a dark thriller with lots of shocking twists and turns, you should watch “The Menu” It may not be for everyone, as the story takes a while to unfold, but trust me, it's not for everyone Fiennes' performance alone makes this film a must-see

Not in the Mood Check out this romantic comedy that recently appeared on Prime Video You should also watch this psycho-thriller before it ends streaming at the end of the month
