Recent rumors paint a less than favorable picture for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, with European price leaks suggesting a price increase The bad news is that it looks like it may happen in the US as well, but the good news is that it won't be as high as what Europeans are expected to pay
According to leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (via SmartPrix), the 125GB Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is set at $649 - the price will likely rise to $70 for the 256GB model Last year's Galaxy S23 FE started at $599 for 128GB and the 256GB option was $659 Meaning we could be looking at a $50 price increase for both options
Interestingly, the price leak in Europe also suggests a €50 price increase compared to last year, although in US dollars that is quite expensive
Quite disappointing, to be honest The idea behind Samsung's Fan Edition series is to offer a near-premium experience at a lower price The more the price increases and the closer it gets to the $799 flagship Galaxy S24, the less attractive the lower-priced flagship becomes
In fact, the only thing working in Samsung's favor here is that the mid-range Galaxy A55 model was not launched in the US market The mid-range model has made so many gains in recent years, encroaching on what was thought to be prime FE territory, that one wonders how the two can peacefully coexist
However, despite the lack of competition this year, the price increase will not work in favor of the Galaxy S24 FE Especially since the Galaxy S24 is only $150 more expensive and probably has more premium hardware and features
We don't know when the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will be available, but some rumors suggest an October release That would mean we would not have to wait very long to find out what is on offer
