It's a double act, perhaps unprecedented in television drama, a small-town detective and a nun who contributes to The Catholic Guardian But “Grotesquerie” (10 episodes), the new film from Ryan Murphy of “American Horror Story” fame, was always going to get a lot of attention, partly because of its guest appearance by NFL tight end Travis Kelce
“Grotesquerie” aired on FX and the next day on Hulu in the US
The violent crime is very strange and personal for Detective Lois Tryon (played by Niecy Nash), and she feels she is being made a fool of It is an unnecessary anxiety for her as she tries to work through her strained relationship with her daughter and her husband, who is in the hospital for an extended period of time
Sister Megan (Mikaela Diamond), a media-savvy nun, makes an appearance and helps Lois slowly piece together the clues Is it just a series of crimes that need to be solved, or is it something more sinister? Is there a bigger picture? Perhaps, ultimately, it is simply good versus evil The question is, which will win out?
The “Guardian” described the show as “eerily beautiful” and praised the decision to choose “slow creeping terror over jump scares” This may disappoint “AHS” fans accustomed to Murphy's usual over-the-top personality, but rest assured that “Grotesque” is no less gruesome
