Earlier this week, we got our first glimpse of just how powerful the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is thanks to leaked Geekbench benchmark scores But as impressive as those numbers were, the new leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus may actually offer better performance-at least partially
The purported US version of the Galaxy S25 Plus appeared on Geekbench with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, achieving a single-core score of 3,054 and a multi-core score of 9,224 For reference, the S25 Ultra recorded a single-core score of 3,069 and a multi-core score of 9,080
The question is why the Plus model came out ahead in the multicore benchmark; Phone Arena speculates that it may be because both US versions of the phone have a fixed performance core clock speed of 419 GHz The European version of the S25 Ultra, on the other hand, is clocked at a faster 447 GHz, putting the US model at a disadvantage in early tests
Also, the fact that the Galaxy S25 is still four months away from its scheduled release date may be a factor This means that both models are still in active development, and the benchmark scores probably do not reflect the final versions of both models
The past few generations of Samsung Galaxy S phones have also featured custom overclocked versions of the latest Snapdragon chipset, so it is likely that work is still being done to improve the chip Meanwhile, the vanilla version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which will be unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit next month, should be in a more stable state
We won't know for sure until the Galaxy S25 series actually launches and we get a chance to do our own benchmark testing But any way you look at it, the Galaxy S25 Plus and Ultra are shaping up to deliver serious performance, possibly even surpassing the iPhone 16 Pro's staggering multi-core benchmark scores
We expect the Galaxy S25 series to arrive sometime in January, and we'll no doubt hear plenty more about the phones in the coming months In the meantime, you can keep up to date with all the latest news and rumors in our Samsung Galaxy S25 and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Hub
