Ninja unveils an air fryer that can be carried to the office

This year was a big year for Ninja First came the viral Ninja Slushi, followed by the launch of the Ninja Café Luxe, the first high-end coffee maker, and now the brand that developed the best air fryer has launched a portable cooking system called Ninja Crispi [The set includes a 4-quart and 6-cup TempWare glass container, two storage lids, and the Ninja Crispi PowerPod, which can be attached to the glass container for cooking and reheating Priced at $159 at Ninja Kitchen, this is quite a convenient option for busy businessmen and students without storage space

The Crispi is designed to be portable, so both the TempWare container and the PowerPod itself can be taken to the office or potluck dinner and cooked anywhere Despite its compact size, it is super powerful, capable of heating up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit Another big plus is that everything from prep, cooking, and serving can be done in a single dishwasher-safe container

Glass air fryers are nothing new; the Crispi reminds me of the Fritaire air fryer, which has a glass cooking chamber and removable fry lid that replicates a more traditional halogen oven and is very easy to clean However, when we tested the Fritaire, we found it to be very hot to the touch and very cumbersome to add or remove food

It can be eaten straight out of the container, and each of the two sized containers comes with a crispy plate, allowing you to cook multiple elements at once, such as spaghetti and meatballs, chicken and potatoes, or salmon and vegetables

There are four cooking modes to choose from

You can also adjust the time using the plus and minus buttons on either side of the compact digital display

The Crispi PowerPod comes with an adapter that allows you to cook in a compact 6-cup container or in a roomy 4-liter container that rivals a small air fryer

I have yet to get my hands on this new product, but I'm eager to try it out There are a few drawbacks I can think of right off the bat I don't think all the cooking will work when you can't shake the food during the cooking process You can open the lid and flip the salmon or toss the potatoes, but it won't be as convenient as a pull-out air fryer

That's not to say, however, that this isn't a useful appliance According to Ninja, the Crispy can be used almost anywhere, including the office The permanently fixed heat-safe feet are safe on granite, laminate, quartz, butcher block, marble, and more, he says Will it fit in your work bag? That may be another story, but I'll reserve judgment until I try it out

One thing I really like is the idea of being able to use this cooking system to gorge on takeout in a “recrisp” setting I already do this with my air fryer When my fries or chicken wings arrive a little soggy, I just pop them straight into the air fryer to crisp them back up, then eat them from the comfort of my couch

So will this cooking system replace the air fryer? I don't think so But it could be the perfect partner for the flyer If you are a student or a busy professional with little time and counter space, I think it would be the perfect solution for cooking at home where you don't have access to an oven
