M4 MacBook Pro 14 Specs Leaked Ahead of Apple Event - Update: More Photos Leaked

Apple is reportedly gearing up for the Apple October event, which should see the unveiling of the new M4 MacBook and the new iPad And now a new leak claims to show off a retail package of the upcoming laptop, indicating some key specs about the device

The leak comes from X's ShrimpApplePro Take this rumor with a grain of salt as they have not confirmed the box as it was sent to them by someone else If the rumor is accurate, the laptop will be a 14” model with an M4 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage

If this is the base model of the MacBook Pro, it is interesting that it has 16GB of RAM rather than the 8GB of RAM that Apple laptops are normally expected to offer; with Apple Intelligence being a key focus, it would make sense for the company to increase the minimum more RAM would make sense Also, it is now 2024, and laptops with the “Pro” name should have at least 8GB of RAM

We'll have to wait for Apple's official announcement to find out which model this is (if the box is legit), but it appears to be consistent with everything we expect from the new MacBook Pro

The M4 chip shown on the box has a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU; overall performance should be significantly better than the M3's 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU configuration Another specification noted is the addition of a Thunderbolt 4 port, increasing the number of USB-C connections to three

As BGR pointed out, a questionable legitimacy is the use of “Apple ID” instead of “Apple Account” Apple has recently begun to move away from referring to accounts as Apple IDs, and it would be odd to return to this name for a product that has not yet been released

In any case, we won't know more about the M4 MacBook Pro until Apple's event in October

Since the initial news, ShrimpApplePro has released more photos of the box allegedly for sale on X in a private Facebook group This does not provide any new information, but adds some potential validity since the box appears to be legit That said, I can't say for sure without seeing the box myself, so I remain skeptical
