Bose Announces Second Generation of SoundLink Flex - Eliminates One of the Biggest Complaints

Bose has announced a sequel to its SoundLink Flex portable Bluetooth speaker, which will be available in 2022 The Bose SoundLink Flex 2nd generation could make our Best Bluetooth Speakers list

The second generation looks very similar to the original model, but features at least one new external feature of a shortcut button - very similar to the switch on the SoundLink Max that appeared this summer This button allows access to many functions, including instant pairing with another speaker

The Flex 2 also features the same 12-hour battery life and IP67 waterproof rating

Changes include codec support, including AAC and aptX compatibility, which allows the speaker to wirelessly transmit 24-bit high-resolution audio over compatible source devices

One of our major complaints about the original SoundFlex Link was the lack of customizable EQ in the companion app or on the speaker itself

The app has been updated over the last few years to allow the EQ to be adjusted from the Bose app The app can also be used to create a “SimpleSync” pairing with another compatible Bluetooth speaker In stereo mode, one linked speaker functions as the right channel and the other as the left channel There is also a party mode in which the two speakers synchronize to play the same audio

Reviewers liked the sleek design, ease of use, and wallet-friendly price point; with the added ability to change the EQ, perhaps the Gen 2 will make the best outdoor speakers list

The SoundLink Flex Gen 2 is available in black, blue, sandstone, and the new “Alpine Sage” color for $149 / £150 / $250 AUD Stay tuned for a full review
