Apple has made it clear that even the top-of-the-line Apple Watch models, from Series 10 to Ultra 2, will not support most of the forthcoming Apple Intelligence features This is probably due to onboard processing limitations There is one Apple Intelligence exception, however, and that is Notification Summaries

This AI-supported feature is set to debut with the rollout of iOS 181, possibly as early as next week But for those who want to try it out now, a public beta of iOS 181 will be released in September and will include a notification summary feature

But even if this feature does make it to the Apple Watch, you will need an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone to use it Supported models include all of the latest iPhone 16 models, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max

The idea is that when you receive a notification on your Apple device, instead of seeing only the first few lines of text or email, you will instead see a summary of the message content, making it easier to parse important information at a glance

Apple uses AI-backed linguistic tools for this text analysis Other features such as message and email reply suggestions also use this, and all processing is done on the smartphone But the paired Apple Watch also benefits from these Notification Summaries And in many ways, these short and sweet summaries are particularly well suited to the Apple Watch's relatively small display

Notification Summaries also accommodate meandering text message threads, summarizing important points and saving you the trouble of scrolling through the weeds

This is, of course, just one of the new Apple Intelligence features coming to the iPhone through iOS 181 Other features include an AI writing tool, the ability to transcribe and summarize phone recordings, and a new cleanup tool that removes unwanted objects and subjects from images However, these features are not available on the Apple Watch
