A new Netflix thriller film has been released

It's been a hot time since Netflix released a truly mind-blowing thriller that left audiences asking all kinds of questions But now that “It's What's Inside” has arrived on the streaming service, it looks poised to become the next big hit If you like movies that make your head spin long after the credits roll, this is definitely the movie to watch this weekend

The film has just the right amount of psychological twists to keep you glued to the screen I went into It's What's Inside without having seen the trailer or anything, and I can say that I was surprised Early reviews online have described it as “an absolute mind bender,” and I agree

“It's What's Inside” was just released on October 4, but it is sure to be a contender for the next breakout thriller on Netflix Its mix of tension, mystery, and psychological warfare will be perfect for fans of unpredictable thrillers So here's what you need to know about this new film and why I think it's worth a look

“It's What's Inside” is about a pre-wedding reunion party that turns into a psychological nightmare when an estranged friend shows up with a mysterious suitcase The group is worried Shelby (Brittany O'Grady), her obnoxious boyfriend Silas (James Morosini), beautiful influencer Nikki (Alicia Debnam-Carey), groomsman Reuben (Devon Terrell), and the mysterious Dennis (Gavin Leatherwood), artist Brooke (Raina Hardesty), and the strange but spiritual Maya (Nina Bloomgarden) [But when their enigmatic friend Forbes (David Thompson) opens the suitcase, a mysterious machine that causes body-swapping nightmares appears The entire sequence is visually captivating, trippy, surreal, and draws the audience into the chaos I immediately sensed that someone would take advantage of being in someone else's body (the real drama begins when they decide to play the “guess who's in whose body” game)

What follows is a roller coaster of emotional tension as each character realizes they are in a body that is not their own The film could have easily become confusing with regard to the swapping, but “It's What's Inside” does a masterful job of reminding us who is who And the premise works so well because everyone in this group of friends has their own insecurities and secrets that drive their desire to be someone else

Aside from the body-swapping shenanigans, the images themselves are a major highlight for me and one of the reasons I felt compelled to keep watching This thriller is filled with trippy, vivid shots that make you feel as if you are walking through a kaleidoscope and experiencing a psychological nightmare It's original, visually beautiful, and absolutely crazy

Of course, this isn't the best film I've ever seen The last act was solid and definitely surprising, but the last 20 minutes felt like it lost its footing a bit The movie tried to juggle too many elements and twists all at once, and some of the tension just fizzled out By the end, I had a hard time processing what the hell had happened Still, it is definitely worth watching, especially if you like twisty funhouses of thrillers that play with the concept of identity

I feel like I can't say anything else for fear of spoiling the plot, but I can share the general consensus of the critics It's What's Inside currently has a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes (though that may change now that the film has been released)

Megan Navarro of Bloody Disgusting says: “It's a winding puzzle box rewarded by saturated colors, a meticulous visual plot, and an irreverent comic tone Jardine's ambitious debut, though tangled, will easily win over devout fans” Meanwhile, Randy Myers of the San Jose Mercury News says that the film “resists being pigeonholed into a specific genre, leaping from horror to science fiction to drama and beyond”

“It's What's Inside” is a haunting thriller that delivers on its promise of chaos, twists, and shocking images The premise alone was enough to pique my interest, and watching it was like being dragged into a creepy funhouse and just experiencing everything that was thrown at me, no questions asked

Keep in mind, this is not exactly an award-winning film, and the plot twists can be a bit confusing if you're not fully invested in every scene If you like unpredictable, experimental films that push the boundaries of reality, this one is definitely for you
