We are just a few weeks away from the annual Qualcomm Summit, where the chipmaker is expected to unveil the next generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, but that hasn't stopped the leak train
The latest leak comes from leaker Jukanloseve, resurrected on X via Chinese site Baidu (spotted by Android Central)The screenshot spotted by Jukanlosreve has two variations as showing off the spec list of the new processors, which appear to be: the SM8750 and the SM8750P The difference appears to be that the P version does not support mmWave and sub-6 5G
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 appears to support the current LPDDR5 RAM, not the previously rumored LPDDR6
The new chip appears to be running an Oryon CPU with a Hexagon Tensor Processor that provides “AI use cases” Qualcomm leaned into AI with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, so it is not surprising that they continue to enhance that aspect of their chips
The leaked spec sheet states that the CPU will feature an Adreno 8 series GPU supporting resolutions up to 3840x2560 and refresh rates up to 144Hz The sheet also lists an Adreno 8 series VPU for 8K video processing
Geekbench showed some benchmarks purportedly run on the OnePlus 13 and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra with an early Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 These one-off tests should be taken with a grain of salt, but they do show an improvement in performance However, it appears to be slightly weaker than the recently released A18 chip in the iPhone 16 lineup
Interestingly, the leaked spec sheet does not seem to have information on whether the prime core is clocked at 43 GHz and consumes 13V This has been leaked before If so, it suggests that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will run at very high temperatures and exceed the capabilities of current smartphones
We won't have to wait too long to see these specs, as Qualcomm's 2024 Summit is set to take place from October 21 through October 23
