A week after its release, “The Joker”: Folie à Deux is unlikely to be as successful as Todd Phillips' first DC film

Controversial as it may be, 2019's “Joker” was critically acclaimed, earning over $1 billion worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film ever (until it lost that thunder to “Deadpool & Wolverine” earlier this year)

Despite being one of the most anticipated films of 2024, “Joker 2” received scathing reviews from critics when it premiered at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival

At the time of this writing, “Joker: folie a deux” has a 33% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an even lower 31% rating from viewers, and certainly does not look like it will recoup its $200 million budget any time soon if ticket sales slump as currently projected

Given the poor reception, I would not be surprised if many of the audiences who were planning to see “Joker 2” have stopped coming to the cinema to see Phillips' next film Want to know when you can watch “Joker” at home? Want to watch “Joker: Folie a Deux” at home? Here's what we know so far about the streaming possibilities

At the time of publication of this article, no streaming date has yet been set In other words, the only way to find out is to visit a local movie theater

But that doesn't mean we know anything about “The Joker”: we don't know anything about “For a Do” or when it will be available for streaming For one thing, we already know which streaming services it will be available on, and we can roughly predict when it will be available

After landing on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) services like Prime Video, we know that “Joker 2” will be streamed on Max because it is a Warner Bros And, based on some recent releases from Warner Bros Studios, “Joker 2” should be available on Max from late December through early January 2025

For example, “Furiosa” streamed on August 16, 85 days after its release, which is the same period of time between the theatrical release of M Night Shyamalan's thriller “Trap” and the October 25 Max release date

To be clear, this is only our best estimate at this point, and if “Joker 2” continues to disappoint at the box office, it is quite possible that it will become available for streaming on Max a little sooner As soon as we have official information on the streaming availability of “Joker 2” we will let you know: as soon as we have an official update on the streaming date of “Joker: Folie a Deux” we will post it here
