This adrenaline-pumping action film is Netflix's new No 1 movie

In recent weeks, streaming originals have dominated Netflix's most-watched list However, a new film has taken the top spot [Sony Pictures' “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” was added to Netflix's streaming library earlier this week (Tuesday, October 8), and the action-comedy blockbuster has been a big hit with subscribers in less than 48 hours, controversial true crime doc “The Menendez Brothers” and its dark sequel “The Platform 2” have jumped to No 1 in the rankings

Not surprisingly, the latest installment in the “Bad Boys” series has been warmly received on Netflix The buddy movie boasts two likable leads (Will Smith and Martin Lawrence) and was a box office success when it opened in theaters over the summer

So if you're in the mood for an adrenaline-pumping blockbuster with a fun story, well-crafted action, and just the right amount of comedy, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” ticks all the boxes and why it deserves to be your next Netflix movie night! Here's how

In the fourth installment of the “Bad Boys” series, Miami detectives Mike Lowry (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) are back in action and embark on their most personal mission yet [Mike and Marcus are convinced that their former boss has been framed Eager to clear his name, they find themselves caught up in a criminal conspiracy and forced to operate outside the law

At the same time, Mike's son Armando (Jacob Scipio), a former cartel assassin, is also caught up in the mess, and in a (somewhat bizarre) side story, Marcus is convinced he is immortal after a vision of Captain Conrad after a heart attack

I'm not going to call “Bad Boys” a masterpiece: I'm not going to call “Ride or Die” a masterpiece or even a particularly good movie, but what this action-comedy does provide is overwhelming entertainment The film knows exactly what it's going for and plays with the audience with extreme confidence

As with any “Bad Boys” movie, the real highlight of Ride or Die is the chemistry between Smith and Lawrence Sure, their characters fall into the generic buddy-cop dynamic of Mike as the straight man and Marcus as the comedy relief, but their double act is relatable and they have great banter Furthermore, the supporting cast is not bad, with fan favorite Reggie Norman (Dennis McDonlad) taking the lead role in a particularly memorable action part

The story unfolds as expected, and while there are no shocking revelations or twists in the third act, Captain Conrad's quest to clear his name is compelling enough to drive Mike and Marcus from gunfight to gunfight Most importantly, however, the action scenes are well constructed, including a final shootout set in a crocodile-themed amusement park that is particularly effective thanks to the use of a first-person perspective

Importantly, Bad Boys: Ride or Die does not attempt to be anything more than plain and simple fun It is a blockbuster in the purest sense of the word It's like fast food in film: it won't win any awards, but it's dependable and enjoyable all the way through

It is clear that audiences also thoroughly enjoyed this fourth film in the action series Critics' ratings are fairly average at 65% on Rotten Tomatoes, but viewers' scores are very impressive at 97% Bad Boys: Ride or Die is an audience pleaser, and it's no wonder Netflix subscribers love it

Whether you saw it in theaters over the summer and want to see it again or missed it the first time around, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” is worth streaming: it's worth streaming on Netflix US It was also #1, but was so well received by viewers that it was sure to immediately rank in the streaming service's top 10 most-watched films

While I am far from a superfan of the franchise, I really enjoyed Ride or Die If not the most original action film ever made, it has all the basics you need
