Now that the glitches in Sonos' app seem to have been ironed out, the company can concentrate on what it does best: developing great sound gear The Sonos Arc Ultra, the follow-up to the excellent Sonos Arc soundbar, has been rumored for some time Now, thanks to a sharp-eyed Reddit user, we have a better idea of what the upgraded soundbar will look like
While the images are relatively low-resolution, they show us what we can expect in terms of appearance and features Several different setups can be seen, including surround, solus, and with Sonos Ace headphones
The leak contains 11 images of the Sonos Arc Ultra Some of the images show the soundbar being used in different rooms, while others are white-colored product photos Several details can be gleaned from these images: first, the soundbar is very similar to the previous model, sharing the same rounded shape and rectangular opening in the back
, and second, the soundbar is a bit more compact than the previous model
But connecting things seems to be easier The sockets on the current Sonos Arc models are slanted at the rear plug cavity, but these sockets face outward, making it easier to install HDMI and power leads The side image of the soundbar still shows some sockets hidden The openings are larger than on the Arc, allowing easier access to the plugs
There are some design changes as well The rectangular section on the back of the soundbar now takes up less space and allows more of the soundbar to come out the sides There are still what appear to be screw holes on the back for wall mounting The overall impression is sleek and uncluttered Not that the old model was cumbersome, but it does look like an aesthetic upgrade
Lifestyle images show that this bar can be mounted on the wall Some of the images also show Sonos wireless subwoofers as well as Sonos Era 300 speakers This means that some of the same surround setups as the original Arc will also work with the Ultra, although the Era 100 speakers and older models have none
Also, there are images of people using the Sonos Arc Ultra with Sonos Arc headphones, so it looks like the personal cinema mode will work with the new soundbar Finally, there are images of people using the touch controls on the Sonos Arc Ultra, so it appears that the new soundbar may have similar controls to the recently released Era speakers
These are just a few images from Reddit posts, but what else do we know about these speakers? News is still relatively thin, but we do have some info As for the price, it looks like it will be $999 thanks to another leaked tip This is only $100 more than the Sonos Arc, which is a pleasant surprise There is also evidence that the new model will have Bluetooth, which the original Arc did not
There is also the possibility of improved sound thanks to the rumored “Immersive Sound Motion Technology” This is said to reduce the number of speaker units inside the soundbar, allowing Sonos to have more drivers than the 11 drivers that the previous model had This could make it the best soundbar available
However, no release date of any kind has been announced yet, so we have no idea when it will be ready to be placed in front of the TV These images are from Reddit and are all rumors at this point
You just can't beat the height of a wall-mounted TV
