Google Chrome Kills One of the Most Popular Ad Blockers on the Internet

Google has reportedly changed its extension support for Google Chrome.

The news comes from a recent report by PC World, which states that Google recently changed its extension support from the Manifest V2 framework to the new V3. Google promises that this change will eliminate remotely hosted code, host APIs, and improve the platform. However, this is bad news for uBlock Origin, one of the most popular ad blocks on the market.

With over 30 million users on Google Chrome alone, uBlock Origin is still working as of this writing. However, the app will be automatically disabled with an upcoming Chrome update. Google will allow users to temporarily re-enable the feature, but that option will also eventually be removed and users will have to find a new browser or a new adblocker.
