New report reveals iPhone 16 Pro's dedicated camera button - here's how it works

When the iPhone 16 is expected to debut in September, the iPhone Pro 16 model should see a new button that will function as a dedicated camera button.

The new shutter button should function like the buttons found on DSLR cameras, as spotted in a new leak reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Apple does not typically add buttons to its iPhones, and if anything, the Cupertino company seems bent on removing them.

However, that is beginning to change, as the Action button was added to last year's iPhone 15 Pro. Currently, the action button is configurable and can be set to open the camera app and use it as a shutter button. Of course, the volume button has always been available for shooting.

The new buttons operate according to the strength of the press. A slight press activates autofocus, while a harder press snaps a photo. According to the report, one can swipe the button to zoom in and out while taking a photo or video.

According to Gurman, the cheaper version of the iPhone 16 will have the action buttons of the iPhone 15 Pro. [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...]
