Windows is a massive operating system filled with all kinds of apps Some of these apps have stood the test of time Some have not Paint 3D falls into the latter category, and Microsoft has announced that it is discontinuing the app
Paint 3D never caught on with Windows users, but when it was first introduced in the Windows 10 era, it was slated to replace the long-standing Paint app Now the app will be removed from the Microsoft Store later this year and updates will no longer be supported
“Paint 3D is deprecated and will be removed from the Microsoft Store on November 4, 2024,” Microsft's support page states For those who do not see the latest Microsoft deprecated features page, a banner in the app warns users that the app will be gone
As for what Microsoft wants you to use as an alternative, the company says, “To view and edit 2D images, you can use Paint or Photos; to view 3D content, you can use 3D Viewer” There are also plenty of third-party apps, such as Photoshop and GIMP, that offer more powerful image editing in both 2D and 3D
