Google officially unveiled the Google Pixel 9 series at the Made by Google event, but how tough are these phones really? Thankfully, a durability test of the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is already available on YouTube to answer this question
The video, of course, features Zack from JerryRigEverything disassembling the phone in rhyme (no, I'm not kidding) JerryRigEverything is a well-known YouTube channel that puts cell phones through a series of durability tests
Google claims that its latest phone is the most durable Pixel-branded device ever, and this test seems to prove them right, with the Pixel 9 Pro XL's durability rivaling that of Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra
The test begins with Zack rubbing the screen with various mineral picks to see its durability against scratches; the Pixel 9 Pro XL showed light scratches at level 6 and deep scratches at level 7 For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 6's internal screen showed scratches at level 2 and deeper scratches at level 3
The Galaxy S24 Ultra, on the other hand, only showed deep scratches at level 8 One reason for the Pixel 9 Pro XL's relatively strong durability is the addition of the same Gorilla Glass Victus 2 glass seen on the Galaxy S23
A surprising revelation in the tests was how well the phone held up against fire
