The LG C4 OLED has finally arrived, with a number of upgrades thanks to the Alpha a9 chip and improved webOS 24 interface, and while the C4 certainly looks appealing right out of the box (and with a $2,000 price tag in front of it, it's natural to hope so), it's not the first time we've seen the C4 in action, There are a few settings you may want to change to improve performance
First, many TVs come standard with an Eco mode, which significantly reduces performance, including brightness and contrast As one of the best TVs for gaming, we also want to make sure to take advantage of hidden features buried beneath the surface, where many settings exist that should be changed on a new TV
The 2024 Paris Olympics may be a thing of the past, but there are still plenty of sporting events to experience on solid, frictionless OLEDs Ready to take your TV to the next level? Here's how
First and foremost, to make your C4 one of the best OLED TVs out there, make sure the energy saving feature is turned off This can be found under “Energy Savings” in “General” and will give you much better performance if you turn it off completely
And of course, every gamer knows how important input latency is during heated gunfights and quick action combat For this reason, setting the C4's input delay prevention settings to “Boost” mode will reliably reduce latency to 92 ms (according to our testing)
Various other features should switch automatically, but if they do not, you should enable 144Hz mode in the Game Optimizer sound settings, set Low Latency to On, and enable ALLM and (if your system supports it) Dolby Atmos ALLM and Dolby Atmos (if supported by your system) should be enabled The main sound settings also have a “Game Optimizer” mode, but in most cases I left AI Sound Pro on for best results
As an additional setting, you may also want to consider Quick Start+, which reduces C4's wake-up time for a smoother, quicker boot I have turned this setting off due to concerns that it might have some negative impact on pixels See Tom's Guide for an article on using the C4 as your main PC monitor in this regard in the near future
Some additional settings I changed included “Home Promotions,” which I turned off
