Google Explains Why Pixel 9 Won't Feature Qi2 Wireless Charging - And It Makes No Sense

One of the most exciting upgrades for Android phones is the prospect of Qi2 wireless charging Unfortunately, few phones actually support Qi2 today, and the majority of those that do are iPhones; given that Qi2 was finalized earlier this year, you would have thought that there would be more well-known non-Apple phones supporting this technology

Some people, including myself, were hoping that the Pixel 9 would finally get the Qi2 bandwagon started; it's been a few months since Qi2 was finalized, and you would think that this would have given Google time to integrate Qi2 into their latest smartphone But apparently not, and Google has explained why Frankly, the reasons for ignoring Qi2 are pretty poor

Android Authority asked what the deal was, only to be given an entirely different answer: Google claimed that there was no specific benefit to adopting the Qi2 and that Qi1 devices were more readily available In other words, Google essentially equated this to stating that there is no point in adding Qi2 right now

For those who don't know, Qi2 is more than just a magnet
