Apple's next big thing could be a $1,000 home robot/iPad combo

Currently, the best smart displays on the market are dominated by Amazon and Google. However, according to new information provided by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the likes of the Amazon Echo Show 8 and Google Nest Hub may soon face competition from Apple.

According to Gurman, Apple is working on a project to develop a mounted display that will serve as a centralized smart home management center. Apple is believed to be developing a display with a full “robotic arm” that not only mounts an iPad on top of the HomePod 2, but can tilt up and down, rotate 360 degrees, and automatically turn to face the user in the room during FaceTime calls

Siri.

With the combination of Siri and Apple Intelligence, the device could be voice activated, recognize different people, and possibly interact with a number of Apple services such as Apple Music and HomeKit devices.

The project has been talked about for some time (we have reported on it before), but Garman claims that the company is currently prioritizing its development. According to him, Apple has placed the project under the jurisdiction of its vice president of technology, Kevin Lynch, and has even set a tentative release date: 2026 or 2027.
