Applying the same rigorous research that goes into developing the best vacuum cleaners and air purifiers, Dyson has developed multiple hair styling products designed to reduce frizz, increase shine, and improve the hold of its iconic hair stylers Currently available on Dyson sites in the US and Canada, the chitosan lineup starts at $5999 and includes a variety of formulas to suit different hair types and textures

Although a significant departure from the consumer electronics market, Chitosan's hair styling products are designed to work with Dyson's iconic Airwrap styling product When I tried Airwrap earlier this year, I loved it, but my freshly curled hair fell out quickly and required a lot of product to keep it in place I'm hoping to get the chitosan lineup and see if it makes a difference, but if it works as promised and doubles the style duration, I may be able to overlook that eye-popping price tag

Reaction to Dyson's announcement has been mixed, with some relieved that the $500 must-have styling product was not released While not cheap, a $60 styling product is a little easier on the bank account Others comment that their Airwrap curls might last longer than 30 minutes with it; Airwrap has many fans, and there is an online forum dedicated to making carefully styled hair last longer, with recommendations for styling products

The lineup includes four different pre-styled serums for different hair types, depending on hair shape and conditioning preferences

The chitosan products promise to hold styles in place with twice the hold and reduce frizz by 50% without leaving a residue or sticky finish

There is also a post-styling serum that promises to hold and moisturize your chosen style, ideally used with Airwrap, but can also be used with other Dyson tools, such as the Collare Hair Straightener, Nural dryer, and Airstrait wet dry styler

What is chitosan? According to Dyson, chitosan is a complex polymer extracted from the flat leech mushroom, designed to condition hair while creating a flexible hold and reducing frizz
