That's right Anova, the company that makes the best sous vide machines, has announced that it will charge for the use of an app to control the sous vide machines
Fortunately, there are ways to avoid subscriptions
Anova announced today (August 15) via email that beginning August 21, users will have to pay $199 per month or $999 per year to access the following features of the app:
In the email, co-founder and CEO Stephen Svajian wrote: “As our community has grown, so have the demands on our resources Our community has literally cooked with our app hundreds of millions of times Unfortunately, each connected dish has a cost So, in order to continue to provide the excellent service and innovative recipes you have come to expect from us, we have decided to introduce a small subscription fee for our app The new Anova Sous Vide subscription allows us to maintain and enhance the app and remain a valuable resource for all users”
