Apple Intelligence is likely to be delayed for some time, but Apple has no intention of delaying the release of the iPhone 16 series, which could be the best iPhone yet
Mark Garman explained in his Power-On newsletter that Apple usually releases devices in September, but the postponement of the Apple Intelligence was a concern that the iPhone 16 might also be delayed However, Mark explained that Apple still intends to keep the same date as last year, with September 10 being the likely date, followed by an update to iOS 181 in October, when Apple Intelligence will be available to the masses
Apple Intelligence has had a rocky period since it was announced at Apple's WWDC 2024 presentation First, it was revealed that most Apple iPhones could not use the feature and only the iPhone 15 Pro series and iPhone 16 had the necessary RAM Then it was later revealed that Apple's AI was delayed due to quality issues
While it is good to know that Apple will not be delaying the next generation iPhone, the question remains as to why one should purchase it on release day
Garman's newsletter also discusses the quality of Apple Intelligence, stating that the AI features do not currently live up to the hype; when Apple Intelligence was announced, Apple was offering image generation, Chat GPT integration, and promised that we would see new and improved Siri-like features
The iOS18 beta shows many of the promised features on the phone, but is still less impressive than Samsung's and Google's efforts
Apple is not having an easy time with this release, but it is still early days for Apple Intelligence Therefore, the company has plenty of time to improve its features The good news is that Apple plans to maintain the iPhone 16 release schedule, but the question remains as to how the lack of Apple Intelligence will affect initial sales
