Will Half-Life 3 Really Happen? According to new rumors, it may finally happen.

For a long time, it seemed that the only possibility for the release of "Half-Life 3" was the day pigs would finally be able to fly. That's because new rumors have rekindled hopes that one of the most anticipated (but never confirmed) titles in video game history may indeed be in development.

A voice actor inadvertently let slip that he is working on a new Valve title codenamed "Project White Sands" (thanks, Notebookcheck). A particularly observant Reddit user first spotted the post on the voice actor's profile page, which has since been removed. Presumably, fans of Gordon Freeman are desperately trying to access this page.

The main reason I feel this is important is that Project White Sands is not the already leaked "Deadlock" (a 6-on-6 third-person shooter in development with Gabe Newell) (thanks, Insider Gaming! )

In other words, there are two possible scenarios regarding Project White Sands: either Half-Life 3 itself or a sequel to the VR puzzle-intensive shooter "Half-Life Alyx."

For Alyx, the amazing virtual reality experience of 2020 is will be playable on PSVR 2 on PC in August thanks to a new Steam app and PlayStation adapter.

As for what this codename might mean as a gameplay setting, Redditers are already speculating that whatever this potential Freeman-related sequel might be, it will either be snowy or set in the New Mexico of the original Half-Life I suspect that this means.

Incidentally, the last time we saw Goggsy take down a headcrab with his legendary crowbar was in Half-Life 2: Episode 2. Prior to that, the phenomenal "Half-Life 2" was released a year after the Steam launch on November 16, 2004.

All of the above should be taken with a grain of salt, but after much speculation and years of desperate pleas for "Half-Life 3," that Valve may finally be tackling the shooter that fans have long been asking for, At the very least, that's encouraging.

That's all, Mr. Newell.
