The Pixel 9 launch event is fast approaching, and it doesn't look like the leaks will disappear anytime soon We've already seen leaks of fairly comprehensive specs, including the possibility of 45W fast charging on at least some models That would require a new charger, and this leak may give us our first glimpse of that
The image comes from @MysteryLupin, who shares what appears to be a press shot of Google's new charger In any case, it's a 2-pin European model, and plugs in the US, Australia, UK, and other regions that don't use Type C plugs will get a slightly different look
However, the basic design should remain the same, with a half-oval shape with the USB-C port at the bottom of the charger This means that the cable used to charge the Pixel 9 device will not protrude from the back of the plug, nor will it get caught on people walking a little closer as they pass by
This also means that the cable may not extend to the desired length Still, the design is fairly compact and slightly more visually appealing than Google's 30W Pixel charger (literally just a chunky brick)
We don't yet know how fast the Pixel 9 will charge, but the Pixel 9 Pro will clearly be faster It is unclear if the 45W limit of this charging brick can be reached; it is worth noting that the Pixel 6 Pro was released at the same time as the 30W charger, even though the Pixel 6 Pro is only capable of 23W speeds
However, since the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro can charge at speeds of 27W and 30W, respectively, it makes sense that all four Pixel 9 models may exceed the capabilities of older 30W chargers An increase in fast charging speeds would be reason enough to purchase the new 45W models (if price permits)
The Pixel 9's charging speed and the price of the 45W charging brick will be revealed at the Made by Google event on August 13 Until then, check out the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold hubs for the latest news and rumors about the upcoming phones
