Apple to launch M4 MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini this year?

Apple is gearing up for a big late 2024. iPhone 16 rumors are numerous and all eyes are on them. But Apple hasn't forgotten about its beloved Mac hardware. According to the latest rumors, several models will get the M4 chip treatment.

In the paid edition of Mark Gurman's latest PowerOn newsletter, he talks about the latest round of Apple computers with M4 processors. According to him, Apple wants to upgrade all Macs to the new generation of Apple silicon processors. This means that the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, Mac Studio, and Mac mini could be equipped with the latest M-series chips.

Other than laptops and desktops going M4, the most important takeaway from this report is that "there is at least one Mac model that will undergo more dramatic changes." Unfortunately, Garman does not specify which model that is, so we can only speculate.

Garman previously suggested that Apple is working on a thinner and lighter MacBook Pro to fit its latest design philosophy. That could be the "dramatic change" he is referring to. It could also be the Mac Pro, which has not undergone a major redesign since 2019, and it makes sense for the company to change that.

The Mac mini has been undergoing an overhaul for an even longer time and has looked nearly identical since 2010. Minor tweaks have been made, but a major overhaul would give Apple's smallest and most affordable desktop new life, along with performance gains from the M4 chip.

Unfortunately, the answer is not yet available. We'll have to wait until the next Apple event to find out which Mac computers will feature the M4 chip and which will get a major overhaul, although Apple did announce many exciting devices at last fall's Scary Fast event, expect the same level of quality at the next Mac event.
