WhatsApp Launches Event Planning Feature for Group Chants - How Does It Work?

This year, WhatsApp has been adding new features to its messaging app every month.

The latest feature, discovered by MacRumors, allows event planning within group chats. The event planning feature is used within group chats and allows WhatsApp users to plan events, meetings, and social gatherings.

In May, when the Android version of the app was redesigned to be closer to the iOS version, WhatsApp introduced the Communities feature, which allows people with common interests to create groups. An Events feature was also added to allow WhatsApp communities to organize blind dates. At the time, only Communities groups had access to the Events tool. The tool is no longer limited to Communities and is now available to anyone with a group chat.

Basically, you could create calendar events on WhatsApp and add them to your mobile calendar or within the app.

Events can be set up by pressing the "+" button within a group and selecting the event. You can then create a name, description, start date, location, and call link for the virtual meeting. Group members will be notified when the event is created.

WhatsApp announced this tool in May: [Events make it easy to plan gatherings directly on WhatsApp, such as virtual meetings or birthday dinners. Anyone can create an event, and others can reply, so everyone in the group knows who is coming. Guests can also find the event on the group's info page, and participants receive automatic notifications when the event is approaching."

WhatsApp's "WhatsApp is a great way for people to get to know each other better.

WhatsApp said the feature will be made available to users gradually over the next few weeks. We tried it on a Samsung Galaxy S22 and iPhone 12, but neither was available yet.

WhatsApp is gaining popularity for its messaging service and just last month surpassed 100 million active users in the US. This is a feat, as the U.S. tends to be locked into services like Apple's iMessage and Android's Google Messages.
