If you've recently purchased a new top-of-the-line laptop, you may have noticed one problem
The new Snapdragon X Elite-powered laptop is our favorite machine to hit the market in quite some time This laptop offers top-notch performance and excellent battery life at a lower price point than you might think
However, due to its ARM foundation, it does not yet support every conceivable app on Windows, including most VPNs Fortunately, Private Internet Access (PIA) has announced an ARM native VPN app to fill this gap
Currently, unless there is a native app built for ARM's x86_64 architecture, Windows will "translate" to that format However, this is not the case for VPNs, which are specialized software and often deeply integrated into the operating system
Many of today's top providers, such as NordVPN and ExpressVPN, are working on solutions but have not perfected ARM-specific apps; if you have a Snapdragon X Elite Windows machine and want to install a VPN, your options are currently limited to Surfshark, Windscribe, and now PIA
Currently, a Private Internet Access app is available in the Microsoft Store for CoPilot+ machines [Himmat Bains, Head of Product for Private Internet Access, said: "We are pleased to bring PIA functionality to Microsoft's next generation of ARM-based machines We have been working hard to port all of PIA's functionality to this new hardware and are thrilled that users will once again be able to enjoy the full power of the PIA platform
The application is currently in beta, so don't expect everything to work perfectly just yet Miguel Galindo, PIA's senior software engineer, added, "As new ARM applications are released, more work will be needed to streamline PIA's functionality" Thankfully, PIA is a name to trust, with a verified zero-log policy and an effective kill switch to prevent data leakage
