Ever since the first trailer for "The Wolfs" was released, I have been convinced that this Apple TV Plus movie is right up my alley And after the new update I am looking forward to it even more
Not to be confused with the 2014 werewolf movie "Wolves," this new action comedy directed by Jon Watts stars Brad Pitt and George Clooney as loner "fixers" who must reluctantly work together on a job The duo reunite for the seventh time as a pair
The two have already proven their on-screen chemistry in "Ocean's Eleven," and in the little footage we've seen so far, the two stars seem to play off each other as well as they did before It looks to be a solid action capper, a classier version of Pitt's action-packed previous film, Bullet Train
The film was already the subject of a studio bidding war a couple of years ago, but there's a new update that makes sure "Wolfers" will be the winner: Deadline has confirmed that Apple has signed Watts to write, direct, and produce Clooney and Pitt's sequel, a month before its release confirmed
Surely, the deal is at least a sign of confidence that "Wolfs" will be a great film At the risk of sounding optimistic, given that I've only seen a few minutes of the film, I can't help but think that I'm really going to enjoy "The Wolfs" when it opens next month [eg, "Killers of the Flower Moon," "Cha Cha Real Smooth," "Fancy Dance," etc!
Apple's official synopsis reads: "World superstars George Clooney and Brad Pitt team up for the action comedy "Wolfs" Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a famous crime But when a second fixer (Pitt) shows up, the two "lone wolves" are forced to work together, and their evening spirals out of control in ways neither expected
As the official trailer shows, in "Wolfers," the two get caught up in a drug deal and are in danger of being killed for what they discover during their trouble-filled night
In addition to Clooney and Pitt, the film also stars Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Paolana Jaganathan, Richard King, and Zlatko Blitch
"Wolfs" will have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in early September 2024
Thankfully, we won't have to wait very long to see the film It will then be available for streaming on Apple TV Plus just one week later, on Friday, September 27
