Pixel 9 Pre-order Upsells Revealed Early by UK Retailers

Four Pixel 9 smartphones will be revealed in the next few days at the latest Made by Google event. And while it doesn't feel like there is much left to leak before the show, one UK retailer has inadvertently played its pre-order and price hand before the four phones are officially present.

First spotted on X by Roland Quandt but still live at the time of writing, Vodafone UK has outlined exactly what early adopters in the UK can expect if they buy through the network with the "Google Storage Intro Offer" and has published a page dedicated to the "Offer.

In short, it appears to be an improved version of the French offer revealed earlier this month. While this does confirm that there is no free Pixel Watch 3, it does seem that the storage upgrade incentives will be a bit more generous, applying to all capacities, not just the offer for those who would be looking at entry-level models.

In other words, Pixel 9 buyers can only get 256GB for the price of 128GB, but those looking at the Pixel 9 Pro can also opt for 512GB for the price of 256GB. those interested in the Pixel 9 Pro XL have even more flexibility, with both plus and a 1TB option for the price of 512GB. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold, on the other hand, has only one deal: 512GB for the price of 256GB.

Helpfully, Vodafone has also specified a preliminary price in the process. Prices range from £750 (~$957) for the 128GB Pixel 9 to £1,850 (~$2,360) for the 512GB Pixel 9 Pro Fold after the campaign.

For phones with more than one capacity, information is a bit confusing and contradictory. For example, the 512GB model of the Pro XL is written to cost £1,130 during the offer period, as is the 256GB version, but the previous section states that the lower capacity handset will cost £1,202 after the offer.

Nevertheless, we have included what we can decipher in the chart below and added a column of approximate dollar conversions. Keep in mind that along with the above discrepancies, UK pricing includes VAT (UK sales tax is 20%), so the price difference across the Atlantic is not necessarily new to Google.

We'll find out what the actual U.S. price will be really soon; the Made by Google event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, where we can expect to see the Pixel Watch 3, Android 15, and more Gemini tricks. You can find out how to watch the Pixel 9 event here.
