iPhone 16 Report Reveals Five Major Expected Upgrades

The launch of the iPhone 16 is just around the corner, but leaks and rumors continue to abound, and while the latest Power On newsletter by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggests that Apple is planning modest upgrades for this generation, he highlighted some interesting changes that we are excited about.

The biggest selling point, of course, is that all four iPhone 16 models will run Apple Intelligence, the tech giant's on-device generated AI revealed at WWDC 2024 Microsoft Copilot for Windows and can access calendar, email, and other data stored on Apple devices and perform tasks such as rewriting and generating text, adding generated images, and cleaning up obtrusive objects in the background of photos.

"Apple Intelligence works on all iPhone 16 models, but it also works on the iPhone 15 Pro version," Garman says. 'I don't know how appealing this will be. Like I said last week, I don't think these features alone are a reason to upgrade."

To keep Apple Intelligence running smoothly, all four models will have upgraded silicon (A18 chip) and 8GB of memory.

As previously rumored, the Action Button, previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, will now be available on all four iPhone 16 models. This handy little button is located on the left side of the iPhone 15 Pro and is expected to be in the same position on the iPhone 16. A short press allows the user to quickly check the ringtone status (on or muted), while a longer press can be programmed to perform any function. However, iOS 18 will introduce a more customizable Control Center and modifiable lock screen options, so the action button may be less useful for such shortcuts.

The next generation of high-end iPhones will feature a new camera control on the right side of the phone that also uses tactile feedback. A short press will activate the autofocus function similar to a DSLR camera, a long press will take a photo, and a swipe along the button will zoom in and out of focus. Also, a long press will take a picture and a swipe along the button will zoom in and out of focus.

This is not the only upgrade exclusive to the Pro model: Apple will increase the display size of its high-end iPhones from 6.1" to 6.3" for the iPhone16Pro and from 6.7" to 6.9" for the iPhone16 Pro Max Garman reiterated earlier rumors that.

Finally, color options are expected to be refreshed as usual. So far, four colors are rumored for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, three of which are black, white, and gray, but the fourth color is controversial. according to Gurman, blue, which was offered on the iPhone 15 Pro a few He said that it is expected to replace rose gold, a color option for the iPhone that gained popularity a few years ago. Other leakers suggest we could get a mix of cement gray and desert yellow, so I for one am glad to see the return of one of my favorite colors instead.

All of this should be taken with a grain of salt for now since we won't get official word from Apple until sometime next month. Until then, stay tuned to our iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max hubs for the latest news and rumors.
