We're in the middle of summer, and August is packed with new Apple TV Plus movies and shows.

This month marks the long-awaited debut of Season 2 of "Pachinko," a multi-generational epic about a Korean family that moves to Japan. Also slated are the new engaging documentary "Cowboy Cartel," the heist comedy "The Instigators," the crime thriller "Bad Monkey" starring Vince Vaughn, and the rebooted children's series "Yo Gabba GabbaLand." Given that Apple TV Plus is one of the best streaming services out there, it's no surprise that so much quality content is dropping this month.

Apple's latest documentary begins. This four-part documentary series follows the amazing story of a rookie FBI agent who took down the leader of Los Zetas, one of Mexico's deadliest cartels, through unconventional means. Featuring the first interview with the FBI agent who cracked the case, Scott Lawson, Cowboy Cartel is one of those stories stranger than fiction that is sure to be a hit with documentary fans and true crime buffs alike.

Matt Damon and Casey Affleck reunite for the first time since "Oppenheimer" in this new action comedy from "Loud House" and "The Bourne Identity" director Doug Liman. Desperate to take care of his son, desperate father Rory (Damon) reluctantly teams up with an ex-con (Affleck) to steal the ill-gotten gains of a corrupt mayor (Ron Perlman). But when the fundraising heist goes awry, the two come under intense fire from police, bureaucrats, and vengeful crime bosses. Laurie's therapist, Donna Rivera (Hong Chau), becomes an armchair straight man to balance Damon and Affleck's Boston brogue as they get caught up in their chaotic getaway.

If you have young children, you'll want to mark your calendar for the premiere of "Yo Gabba GabbaLand." - Inspired by the famous Emmy-nominated "Yo Gabba Gabba," the 10-episode series is a series about a young boy and his family who are trying to find their way back to their hometown of Gabba Gabba. Popular characters Blobby (Amos Watene), Hufa (Emma Penrose), Muno (Adam Dibert), Toody (Erin Pierce), and Plex (Christian Jacobs), along with new friends, live-action characters, and a host of new earbuds that will leave a lasting impression on your head. Returning. Led by new host Kammy Kam (Camryn Smith), this season's guests include Reggie Watts, Emmy Award winner Sam Richardson, Critics' Choice Award nominee Gillian Jacobs, Utkarsh Ambudkar, SAG Award winner Lauren Lapkus Chelsea Peretti, Grammy Award winner Diplo, and Grammy Award winner Free.

Bill Lawrence, executive producer of "Ted Rathbos," is working on a new Apple TV Plus crime thriller, "Bad Monkey." Starring Vince Vaughn as Andrew Yancey, a disgraced Miami cop, the film is about a young man who is on the run from the police. But when he stumbles across a possible murder case after a tourist fishes out a human arm, he considers it his golden ticket to reclaim his career. But first, he has to "get over a pile of Florida oddballs and one bad monkey," the show's synopsis reads.

Count "Pachinko" among the best shows you can stream right now on Apple TV Plus, but critics and viewers alike are just as hooked as we are (the first season was Rotten Tomatoes, where it holds a near-perfect 97% critics score). Adapted from the best-selling novel by Min Jin Lee, Season 2 airs this month and continues the decades-long story of a Korean family led by patriarch Kim Sun-ja (Yoon Yoo-jung). The Season 2 trailer offers a glimpse of Koh Han-su (Lee Min-ho) and Seung-ja's acrimonious reunion at the end of World War II, as the family is forced to make a dangerous decision regarding the survival of the family. Decades later, in 1989, Sunja's grandson Solomon struggles with his legacy in the biggest deal of his career, pursuing his fortune and his future.
