The last episode before the "House of Dragons" finale was the best moment in "Thrones" history.

WARNING: This article contains serious spoilers for "House of the Dragon" Season 2!

I've already mentioned that the second episode of "House of the Dragon" Season 2 had one of the best scenes on "Game of Thrones," but I'll repeat it once more.

In this second season, Rainaila's (Emma Darcy) faction has taken a back seat. To be sure, the Greens are not thriving in King's Landing either, but at least they are having success in the war. Our queen, on the other hand, started the season by being accused of ordering the assassination of a toddler.

While fighting to change public perception, Reanila has lost two key allies; after an argument between the two, Daemon has fled to Calax and Harrenhal, but it is unclear if Daemon is still willing to work for her. To make matters worse, Reanis and Mehlis collapsed in Rook's resting place, a truly exciting fight scene that brought much needed momentum to the mid-season.

As things progressed toward a truly epic season finale (judging from the final trailer), the show evened the playing field: with Laneira getting three dragonriders, the balance of power tilted in her favor, and this final episode was able to deliver Aemond to King's Landing! . This scene will be replayed repeatedly by Max.

The episode began with Seasmoke flying off to meet her new rider, Adam (Clinton Liberty) of Hull.

In another chaotic sequence, Vermisaw's ferocious power was clearly demonstrated as Bronze Fury burned and ate dozens of would-be riders before Hugh Hammer took the massive beast. And while the White Wolf escaped Vermisaw's flames, ...... he became her third rider after being played by Silverwing.

In a prodigious feat of strength, Wolf and Silverwing flew over King's Landing, panicking the city and dragging Aymond to Vergers. Previously, Aymond could have been sure of victory; after all, he had already seen off Maeley and "the queen who never existed." Here, however, he is forced to flee back to his homeland.

Cut to the final shot: Silverwing is climbing one of the towers behind her with a steely gaze over Blackwater Bay. The scene has already caused quite a stir among fans online (try searching for "Rhaenyra" on X/Twitter), and it also undoubtedly serves as a prelude to what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest TV highlights of the year. I just can't wait to see what the "House of Dragons" Season 2 finale has in store.

Sure, it's sad that we have to wait so long to see the rest of "Dance of Dragons," but if "House of Dragons" can casually provide us with memorable moments like this, it will be worth the wait.
