Although an exact time has not yet been revealed, Microsoft is closing its Xbox 360 Marketplace today. That means you will no longer be able to purchase digital copies from the Redmont giant's official store. It's a sad day for fans of classic Xbox games, but at least Microsoft plans to sell plenty of titles at very low prices before the Marketplace closes somewhere today forever.

The company announced the closure of its Xbox 360 store last August, and Video Games Chronicle estimates that about 220 titles will essentially disappear forever as Xbox 360 digital versions.

However, it's not all doom and gloom. Digital games for the 360 that you already own will continue to be available for re-download if you still own a 360. Also, with backward compatibility, many titles can continue to be played on the Xbox One series and Xbox Series X/S.

It is definitely worth checking out the Xbox 360 Marketplace while you can, as several legendary series of games are at great deals. Here are seven of the 220 games I recommend you buy today or they will disappear digitally.

You can also play digital versions of Xbox 360 games on Microsoft's newer consoles at their respective online stores. Of course, as long as they support backward compatibility, one can also purchase physical versions of 360 titles and play them on the Xbox Series S and other consoles.

To Microsoft's credit, the Xbox division has done a great job in this regard over the past few years; many of the Xbox and 360 OG games not only run on the company's current consoles, but in many cases have even received frame rate improvements and 4K resolution updates

Retrospectives.

It's a sad day for fans of retro gaming (whether or not you can call the Xbox 360 a true retro machine), but at least for a few more hours, there are genuinely great titles available on the marketplace.
