Made by Google Hardware Event - Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 3 and all the latest rumors

Google surprised us earlier this summer when it announced that its annual hardware event, usually held in October, would take place several months earlier. This year, Google plans to unveil its hardware on August 13, and we already know very well what to expect.

Google has already released teaser videos for the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (the latter is the successor to the Pixel Fold foldable phone), both touting an August 13 date, along with the rest of the Pixel 9 lineup. Made by Google hardware event will no doubt be attended.

While new phone hardware is certain to be seen, other devices could join the Pixel lineup, such as the Pixel Watch 3. And while the focus may be on hardware, we can also expect to hear a lot of news about AI features in the latest Google devices and the upcoming release of Android 15.

The date for the next Made by Google unveiling has been set, and here is what we know so far about the event.

Google has already set the date for the Made by Google event for August 13, with the product launch taking place at the company's headquarters in Mountain View, California.

The event will begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST, and the invitation promises to "showcase the best of Google AI, Android software, and the Pixel device portfolio."

Google will almost certainly stream the event, possibly on its YouTube channel. There are no placeholder videos yet, but they will surely appear as the August 13 date approaches.

There have been so many leaks of the Pixel 9, and not a few from Google itself, that it may feel like Google's flagship phone is already on the market. While we will have to wait until August 13 for the official launch, we already know a lot of details about the latest device.

There should be four models, with two versions of the Pixel 9 Pro joining the standard Pixel 9. One of the Pro models will offer a 6.1-inch screen, while the other, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, is expected to have a 6.7-inch panel. The Pixel lineup will absorb the foldable phone that Google announced last year, so the fourth phone will be the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold (which is the official name).

From the images posted by Google, it appears that the Pixel 9 family has been slightly tweaked in design, with the camera rubber not extending the length of the phone. Instead, the corners are expected to be rounded.

As before, the Pixel 9 will have a main camera and an ultra-wide lens, while the Pro model should add a telephoto lens. According to leaked camera details, all models will have an upgraded ultrawide sensor, and the Pixel 9's front camera will add the autofocus feature already available on the Pro model.

It is fairly certain that the latest Pixel phones will feature a new chipset, the Tensor G4. This means new AI-powered features, and leaked information has revealed some possible AI possibilities for the Pixel 9. Rumored additions include tweaks to the Magic Editor tool, such as the Reimagine With command for adding effects and edits, and the Add Me tool for inserting the photographer into a group shot. Additionally, a line of code found in the APK breakdown indicates that Pixel 9 Pro buyers may receive free access to Gemini Advanced for one year.

As for the Pixel 9 Fold, according to leaked Fold specifications, both the cover display and main screen should be larger than what we saw on the Pixel Fold. The display could also be brighter, and Google is expected to include more RAM to help the Tensor G4 silicon that drives the device. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 should also be on the lookout. Google's next-generation foldable may be even thinner, but heavier.

Expect the Google Pixel 9 to launch with Android 15, since Android is the common practice for Google phones to be the first with the latest OS. One sketchy rumor claims otherwise, but we're not too sure about that. The Google event in particular would be the perfect time to announce the full software release.

Currently, the Android 15 beta is available for Google Pixel 6 and later. Therefore, the Google Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 series, and Google Pixel 8 series are also eligible for the Android 15 upgrade. All of these models can install the Android 15 beta right now.

So far, we know several features coming to Android 15 thanks to the beta version; Android 15 brings significant changes to the phone's display with new features to maximize brightness and app customization. The update also includes several new accessibility options, including keyboard vibration, adaptive vibration, and improved security. A complete breakdown of all confirmed changes can be found here.

In addition to all these Pixel 9 models, two Google Pixel Watch 3 models are expected to be announced at the Made by Google event. Multiple reports indicate that they will be available in 41mm and 45mm sizes. The standard Pixel Watch 3 will feature a 1.2-inch screen, while the Pixel Watch 3 XL will offer a 1.4-inch display.

Wear OS 5 adds fitness statistics for runners, including ground contact time, stride length, vertical sway, and vertical ratio, in addition to improved battery performance. Google is clearly aiming to improve the running experience to compete with the Apple Watch's improved ring system.

According to recently leaked renderings, the Pixel Watch 3 looks very similar to its predecessor. Early reports that Google will remove buttons from the next-generation Pixel Watch may not materialize.

Leaks have uncovered Pixel Buds Pro 2 charging cases listed on Danish and Korean certification sites. Usually, a product appearing on such a listing means that a market launch is imminent.

The biggest detail on the list concerns the battery. Specifically, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 may feature a 650mAh battery instead of the 620mAh battery found in the original earbuds.

A surprise leak on Reddit (spotted by 9to5Google) revealed a case from accessory maker Spigen on Amazon. As of this writing, the image posted is no longer available on Amazon. There appear to be some changes to the design, and four color options are available.
