New version of Oura Ring leaked that outperforms Galaxy Ring

Meal logging is a great way to eat healthier and potentially lose weight. Knowing what you eat can help you eat less. I have lost 60 pounds in the past just by keeping track of everything I ingested and maintaining a calorie deficit. Not only that, but knowing what you eat and when you eat it can give you an idea of how food affects your sleep.

Android Authority has done an APK teardown that looks at the code for the upcoming release of the Oura app. The publication found new features coming to the Oura Ring that could make weight loss easier and more productive.

Essentially, Oura Ring appears to offer a meal tracking feature to help you monitor what you eat throughout the day. According to the code, the new feature will allow you to track your meals in the Oura app, which seems useful enough on its own.

But you can also see how meals and meal times affect your circadian rhythm. This is valuable information for determining how sleep, and even diet, affects your ability to rest; as with any new technology to be announced in 2024, AI will be used to analyze dietary items and provide this information.

If you don't like the AI feature, you can also manually record your meals, though you will sacrifice the analysis.

Unfortunately, the code does not suggest a release date for the new feature. However, the code has already been implemented in the app, and Android Authority managed to capture screenshots of the feature setup process, so it is probably far along and should be coming soon.

It will be interesting to see if Samsung will offer similar functionality in the Galaxy Ring; there were rumors of a Galaxy Ring meal feature, but it was never released.
