When Google introduced Circle to Search for Samsung Galaxy S24 phones and Pixel phones in January, it quickly became one of the best features on these devices Since then, the feature has spread to other devices including older Samsung phones and Google's Pixel Tablet
And now Google Chrome and ChromeOS finally get a version that supports Search (via 9to5Google)The Search variant coming to Chrome and some of the best Chromebooks is through a major update to Google Lens
Google is now offering a new version of Google Lens, which is a new version of Google Lens
There were rumors that Google was working on an update to Google Lens in May At the time, it appeared that this feature would not be available to the public just yet
But it is finally here, appearing in the official Chrome 128 beta and ChromeOS 127 beta If you are interested, you can download the Chrome beta from Google
With this update, you will be able to search for anything by circling it on your computer More precisely, drag a box over the content you are interested in
The Chrome and ChromeOS versions have been renamed "Drag to Search" and are enabled by clicking the new Google Lens icon in the Chromebook's address bar normal on Windows or macOS In Chrome, you should find the "Search with Google Lens" option in the overflow It will soon be pinned to the side panel for easy access and will replace the current "Search with Google" option
Dragging it over the area to be searched will open a side panel showing the search results, and the original tab will remain open so you can continue scrolling
This feature is described on the What's New in Chrome page:
"Google Lens in Chrome makes it easy to search everything on your screen You can search for videos you're watching, slides from a live stream, images on a web page, etc Google Lens shows you the answer on the fly, in a tab, and lets you continue browsing with the new information you find
Circle to Search was one of the first AI features touted by tech companies that was both actually useful and actually offered to customers
If it is now in official beta, that generally means that the feature is close to dropping for everyone Unfortunately, we still don't know when that will be
Presumably Google will announce the feature at the Made by Google event on August 13, when it unveils the new Pixel 9 lineup and the next Google smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 3
