Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, battery life to be significantly extended.

A few days ago, we heard some unfortunate rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Specifically, that it might retain the same 5,000mAh battery and 45W charging as the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, according to the latest rumors, it may not be all bad news.

According to leaker NegativeOneHero, the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could significantly improve the efficiency of the Galaxy S25 Ultra and other Android flagships. Apparently, internal test data shows a single-digit improvement in energy efficiency and a "significant" improvement in GPU performance.

Leeker claims that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 delivers the same peak performance as MediaTek's Dimensity D9300 chipset while consuming half the power in the process. This is quite impressive, but they claim that overall performance may be sacrificed.

If you are looking for high CPU performance, you should wait until the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

In other words, what the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 lacks in raw performance, it makes up for in reduced energy consumption. The main benefit of this improved efficiency is that the Galaxy S25 Ultra's 5,000 mAh battery lasts longer than the S24 Ultra, despite being the same size.

There should also be much less heat generated, especially when the hardware is pushed to its limits. Since Samsung does not have to worry about high temperatures affecting the phone, less heat could mean less need to upgrade the internal cooling system. Since heat is known to negatively impact performance and long-term battery health, the less heat, the better.

This may be disappointing to those expecting further improvements in performance. However, I personally believe that if you can get more usage time out of your phone's battery, you can't go wrong. More will be revealed on this point at Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit in October, and again when the first Android flagships with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 start appearing.

In the meantime, check out the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra hub for the latest rumors and leaks.
