Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra specs leak, blows away iPhone 16 Pro Max

Samsung is working on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, scheduled for release in 2025. This comes as no surprise to anyone. What is surprising is the latest rumor that the company will offer a 16 GB configuration for its top-of-the-line model. In this case, the iPhone 16 Pro Max would have twice the RAM.

Regular leaker Ice Universe posted this rumor on X (discovered by SamMobile). The tipster did not specifically mention the Galaxy S25 Ultra in his X post, but if you look at their recent post, while comparing the S24 Ultra's 12GB of RAM and what Samsung's software can do against competing devices from iPhone and Huawei (which is not good), Talking specifically about Samsung and the upcoming OneUI 7 update. Some of the replies to their tweets are rather vague, confirming that they are talking about the S25 Ultra.

If this rumor is true, it would blow away the 8GB of RAM that the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have. That said, looking at Ice Universe's software testing and what Apple has accomplished in the past, they have been able to squeeze all the juice out of that 8GB. Still, it is surprising that Apple could stick to this number in the future, especially with Apple Intelligence.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is rumored to be the next processor after the S25 Ultra, which may require more RAM, and there are reports that Samsung will upgrade to LPDDR6 DRAM for its flagship devices. Nevertheless, there are also shocking and bold rumors that Samsung will ditch Qualcomm in favor of MediaTek chips. [The Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy S21 Ultra had 16GB of RAM. However, all Ultra phones since then have had 12GB of RAM.

Samsung will likely need to ramp up RAM in the S25 line and Ultra variants to better take advantage of current and new AI features that are RAM and processor intensive.

The 5,000 mAh battery that Samsung has reportedly maintained for its next flagship Galaxy device since the Galaxy S20 is one thing. Samsung has managed to get a lot out of this battery through software tweaks. Still, larger batteries are trending, including the recently announced Glacier battery in the OnePlus, which reportedly packs 6,100 mAh cells into a 5,000 mAh space, and includes new technology.

With all the upgrades and AI integration rumored to be coming to the S25 series, we would not be surprised if it takes a battery boost to make our best phones list.

It's still early days, so the rumors could change in the coming months. We will find out more as we get closer to the most likely January 2025 release date. Until then, stay tuned to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra hub for the latest S25 news.
