Google's Pixel 9 lineup is set to be announced on August 13, and it seems like we've seen every millimeter of the next generation of Google phones
Still, the leaks keep coming Today we have two small leaks regarding the Google processor in the phone and the starting storage capacity
Read on to find out what Google's Pixel 9 phone will have
There has not been much information on the Tensor G4 that is supposedly coming to the Pixel 9 lineup However, a new leak from Android Authority suggests a processor that appears to be a minor upgrade over last year's Tensor G3
Previous rumors suggested that the G4 would have fewer CPU cores than the G3, with four low-power Cortex-A510 cores, four Cortex-A715 cores, and one large Cortex-X3 core, for a total of nine The G4 is expected to use the Cortex-A520, A720, and large Cortex- X4, and the larger Cortex-X4 Presumably, this arrangement is higher clocked than the G3
An unnamed source from Google at Android Authority confirms this to be the case The new chip should be faster and more efficient, with tests on GeekBench showing an 11% increase over the Pixel 8 Pro
This minor upgrade was intentional as Google works to build a potential partnership with TSMC (which manufactures Apple's chips) for the Tensor G5 One way to think of it is that the Tensor G3 is a standard chip, while the G4 is a slightly improved Pro version Interestingly, this means that some features on the Pixel 9 series will be artificially locked into these models first Will these features trickle down to the Pixel 8 lineup over time?
Most of the tests we've seen previously show minor improvements, but we won't know for sure until the official phones are released, especially since Google will drop software optimizations between now and then
Surprisingly, we have seen almost every internal chip leak about the Pixel 9, but not the storage capacity; a new rumor from Android Headlines suggests that the starting storage capacity of all new Pixel 9 phones is 128GB
Folding
The three non-folding Pixel 9 phones will start with 128GB of storage, with a 256GB variant also available; the two Pro models will also have 512GB and 1TB options; and the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 will have 1TB of storage This is all similar to what is already offered in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is slightly different, losing the 128GB base and going to 256GB and 512GB storage Apparently, there is no 1TB version of the Fold Again, this is similar to the original Pixel Fold
Normally, prices would have leaked by now, but it is unclear where the Pixel 9 family will start Last year's Pixel 8 started at $699 and the Pixel 8 Pro at $999; the Pro XL is imagined to launch at around $1,200, similar to Samsung's comparable options
As for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, it is unlikely that it will be available for less than the Pixel Fold's $1799 price If anything, based on this year's trends, it will likely be $100 more
Finally, an unnamed source told Android Headlines that Google will release a new 45W USB-C fast charger Currently, Google only offers a 30W USB-C charger
