Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu of "Emily in Paris" talks about the surprising effects of playing the tough boss Sylvie.

Given the designer fashions, the picturesque filming locations, and Netflix's massive budget, one would have to think that playing marketing queen Sylvia Gratteau in the French-set drama "Emilie in Paris" would be a major undertaking for any actress.

However, Filipine Leroy-Beaulieu will next be seen as the owner of Agence Grateau in the two-part "Emily in Paris" Season 4, which will premiere its first five episodes on Thursday, August 15 and the remaining five on Thursday, September 12, recently, revealed a surprising drawback to the role.

In a July 26 interview with The Times, the French actress revealed that men are afraid of her in real life because of her ultra-sophisticated, uptight personality.

"Yes, and women too. Sylvie is just a part of me! And Sylvie is layered. She's tough, but vulnerable. 'When you're hypersensitive you have to be tough to protect yourself. Otherwise what? You're just going to cry all the time? You need armor to protect yourself from this shitty world. You have to say no. You have to have boundaries. Because people are always trying to get you."

When asked if men in real life "see Sylvie when they look at her," the actress replied: "I don't know. Do you see Sylvie in me? I think a good man, a mensch, is not afraid of a strong woman. Are there many good men?"

The TV star also humorously recounted running into a fan while hanging out with Bruno Guerry, who plays the eccentric Agence Gratot employee Luc in the series. 'Tourists are always surprised when they see us on the street. It was the same yesterday in one of the stores. An American said, 'Are you Sylvie? Oh my God, I met Sylvie on my first day in Paris'"

.

"Emily in Paris" fans can catch up with Sylvie as well as the rest of Ajance Grato's crew when the series returns on August 15; according to the official season 4 synopsis released by Netflix, the new episodes will show Sylvie " forced to confront a thorny dilemma from her past because of her marriage," and will see the rest of the marketing team survive a personnel change. Recall, Season 3 saw professional tension between heroine Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) and her colleague Julian (Samuel Arnold).

As for what to expect in Season 4, Leroy-Beaulieu said to be prepared for "fun and frothy stuff," telling The Times that the show's "escapism" was the reason for "Emily in Paris"'s great success.

"It was important in captivity, and it still is. There is fashion. There is fashion. Darren is a talent that's fun and hilarious, but also has other themes," she told the magazine. But like music, you have to be disciplined. Comedy is hard." Tom's Guide will be bringing you all the behind-the-scenes tidbits, actor insights, character descriptions, and on-set photos of "Emilie in Paris" in advance of the fourth season.
