Top 10 Prime Video Movies - Here are 3 worth watching now

Amazon Prime Video offers subscribers access to an extensive library of movies, but the downside is that it can be tough to choose from the thousands of movies available. So when you're trying to decide what to watch next, the streaming service offers a handy list of the “Top 10 Most Watched Movies.”

However, just because a movie makes Prime Video's Top 10 list does not guarantee its quality. For example, Prime Video's new original drama “Divorce in the Black” is currently #2 in the rankings, but with a rare 0% Rotten Tomatoes score, the situation is not much better for the top-ranked films. My Spy The Eternal City” has a similarly low score of 21%.

So, to help you spend your precious movie-going time on worthwhile films, we pick out the top 10 films on Prime Video that deserve to be on your viewing list. This article is based on the top 10 as of Tuesday, July 23 at 6:30 AM.

If you had told me earlier this year that I would be this enthused about a Jason Statham action movie, I would not have believed you. The fearless British actor has established a brand with his macho films, but testosterone-fueled movies usually don't do it for me. But “The Beekeeper” is an exception. That's because “The Beekeeper” doesn't play things excruciatingly straight, but rather revels in the absurdity of its premise, and it's better for it.

In “The Beekeeper,” Statham plays a former member of a secret organization of super-soldiers known as “The Beekeepers.” Retired Adam Clay (Statham) lives a simple life as an actual beekeeper (as you can imagine, bee puns abound like honey), but when his kind-hearted landlord falls victim to a phishing scam, Clay decides to retire to seek revenge alone. He comes into contact with a former CIA director (Jeremy Irons) and an arrogant tech CEO (Josh Hutcherson).

Christopher Nolan's “Oppenheimer” has been in the Prime Video Top 10 since its first appearance in June. Frankly, the film deserves a permanent spot in the top 10 on the Amazon-owned streaming service. Because not only is it my favorite film of 2023, but it is also Nolan's magnum opus. Considering that he is the director of “Interstellar,” “Inception,” and “The Dark Knight,” this deserves a lot of praise.

In this epic historical drama, Cillian Murphy plays the eponymous Robert J. Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist and leader of the Manhattan Project. But while the creation of nuclear weapons is considered Oppenheimer's greatest achievement, this biopic explores the traumatic effects of bringing such a destructive force into the world. Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, and Matt Damon star in this award-winning level performance.

Glen Powell teased “Top Gun 3” during his press tour for “Twisters: Maverick” and it is enjoying a new wave of popularity in response. The flying blockbuster has been available on Prime Video for some 15 months now, but it remains one of the best films on the service, and a second (or third) viewing confirms that it is just as thrilling as it was the first time. That said, I would love to see it again in a movie theater. My home setup is reasonably solid, but it can't compare to the immersive experience of a proper movie theater.

A rare “legacy sequel” that surpasses the original, the 2022 sequel to the 1986 classic finds Tom Cruise once again donning the aviator's hat as the naughty and charming Navy pilot, Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. Pushing the rules to the breaking point, he is assigned to mentor a group of promising young pilots for a special mission that may prove impossible. While adjusting to mentoring, he meets Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller), the hot-blooded son of his late best friend, and is forced to confront his tragic past: watch “Maverick” on Prime Video now
