Apple TV Plus releases trailer for Season 2 of “Pachinko.

“Slingshot,” which aired on Apple TV Plus in 2022, impressed viewers and critics alike. Season 1 still holds a high 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been nominated for and won many awards. Here at Tom's Guide, we named it one of the best Apple TV Plus shows available for streaming right now.

Excitement was building for the return of this epic historical epic, and now that the streamer has released the trailer for “Slingshot” Season 2, it looks like the show's second chapter will once again leave an impact.

Set to a somber cover of BLACKPINK member Roze's “Viva La Vida,” the stirring trailer shows both the lush countryside and the bustling city of Tokyo, as well as the haunting sight of bombers flying overhead in Osaka, and the show's captivating further featuring cinematography.

The trailer further foreshadows the heart-stirring family drama we have come to expect from “Pachinko,” with a rushed reunion between Koh Han-su (Lee Min-ho) and young Kim Sun-ja (Kim Min-ha), who have lived apart for over a decade. Later in the timeline, Sun-ja tells her grandson Solomon (Jin Ha) to remember who he is after he sells himself to Tom Andrews (Jimi Simpson) as a man with “nothing to lose.”

As the drama continues and more snapshots of the drama mount, the title warns that we all have the courage to change our destiny. All in all, the clip shows that “Slingshot” Season 2 is a ridiculously emotional and epic piece of work.

“Slingshot” is adapted by Sue Hu from Ming Jin Lee's 2017 best-selling novel of the same name. Like the novel, the Apple TV Plus series documents the lives of four generations of a Korean family that immigrated to Japan before the start of World War II. It is a story that encompasses time frame, place, and language.

According to the official synopsis for season two, we know where our story will continue. It says: “Parallel stories unfold in Osaka in 1945, where Sunja is forced to make a dangerous decision for the survival of her family during World War II, and in Tokyo in 1989, where Solomon seeks a new, modest beginning.

“Pachinko” Season 2 will premiere on Apple TV Plus on Friday, August 23. From there, new episodes will be available weekly.
