Prime Video has got the best action thrillers.

“When I heard that Mission: Mission: Impossible/Dead Reckoning Part 1 was available on the best streaming services, I was excited to be able to watch again what has been hailed as one of the best action thrillers of recent years. As a fan of the series, I am eager to see Ethan Hunt and his team take on their latest mission once again.

Having actually seen it, I can confirm that the film really delivers on its promise when it comes to incredibly dangerous but thrilling action. From the very first scene, we are thrown into a very interesting story dealing with AI. But it's a story you have to experience for yourself if you haven't already seen this latest film...

“Dead Reckoning” has been available on Paramount Plus since January, but has now found another home on Prime Video. So, for those new to the franchise or in need of a refresher, here are the details on “Mission: Mission: Impossible/Dead Reckoning Part 1.”

“Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning” Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team face a new threat: a powerful artificial intelligence called “The Entity. This rogue AI has the potential to control or destroy the world's information systems and plunge the world into chaos.

To neutralize this threat, Ethan must find the two halves of a special key. The mission will take Ethan and his team across a variety of international locations, involving tense action and advanced espionage. Along the way, they meet old allies and new enemies, including Gabriel (Esai Morales), a mysterious assassin with a personal grudge against Ethan.

This film will set the stage for the conclusion of Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2, which will be released in May 2025.

This “Mission: Impossible” film features the one and only Tom Cruise performing carefully choreographed stunts and is highly praised for its intense (but very cool) action sequences. I totally agree with this praise, considering that I was blown away when I first saw the film. For example, there is a high-speed chase scene with a moving train approaching a broken bridge, all of which was very extreme.

Aside from the action, the film has many other strengths. The complex plot, which focuses on espionage and advanced technology, is full of unexpected twists and turns. Of course, most of the story revolves around the potential dangers of artificial intelligence through its antagonist, the Entity. This AI can control and disrupt the world's information systems, manipulate data, and spread misinformation.

Despite the fast-paced action and intense plot, the film finds enough time to develop its characters and explore their motivations and relationships, making you feel more emotion throughout.

Nor should we forget about the other characters, such as Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), who are Ethan's closest friends and show growth through their support and individual contributions to him. New allies like Grace (Hayley Atwell), who initially appears as a thief in the employ of an enigmatic figure, begins to change her perspective when she becomes involved in Ethan's mission.

Yes, everything is fun and chaotic in “The Guts of the Dead.” But think too much and you might find a few minor problems lurking beneath the action. Repeated plot lines and scattershot storytelling are examples of this, but if you go to the film looking for brilliant thrills, you'll definitely find them.

“Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One” is actually the second highest rated film in the franchise, with a score of 96% from over 400 critical reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, audience rating of 94%.

What stands out in this action thriller are the stunts, primarily by Cruise himself, says Thelma Adams of AARP Movies for Grownups: “Kudos to Cruise for understanding his audience and knowing how to please them. He pulled off the near-impossible mission of riding the sequel again and becoming this summer's box office savior while pulling off stunts that would terrify actors half his age.” Meanwhile, ABC News' Peter Travers says: “It doesn't matter if the plot is a ploy to set up a stunt; it's not a stunt. Tom Cruise does the impossible.

The Observer's Dylan Ross praised the film's genuine thrills: “‘Dead Reckoning’ delivers all the high-speed, high-altitude, on-camera thrills fans have come to expect.

Audiences were equally pleased, saying it was a “high-octane adventure” with “an intricate plot, great action scenes, and a sprinkling of comedy to balance it all.”

If you haven't had a chance to see Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 yet, now is the perfect time to stream it on Prime Video. Having seen the film myself, I can assure you that it is an exhilarating ride, full of pulse-pounding action and incredible emotional depth.

Not only does the film live up to its impressive Rotten Tomatoes score, but it also offers an entertaining story for fans and newcomers alike. I'm still not convinced. Here's how to binge-watch “James Bond” movies in order. And don't miss the best Netflix movies before they're released this month.
