Sling TV may be one of our favorite cable alternatives, but it's not the only way Sling can cut the cord; Freestream also offers a free, ad-supported TV (FAST) that lets you watch tons of shows and movies for free streaming service
And now, as many as 12 new channels have been added all at once: as reported by Cord Cutters News, Freestream added 12 new channels this week, adding more than 41,000 on-demand shows and movies, plus more than 430 free streaming service
Many of these 12 new channels come courtesy of the BBC, which is no bad thing Especially when two of those channels are BBC's Doctor Who and BBC's Top Gear These two BBC shows have millions of enthusiastic fans (myself included), and Freestream making hours of episodes available for free is a huge win for those same fans
But this is not the only big show coming to Freestream There will also be a “Baywatch” channel for those who want to return to Malibu Beach and hang out with “The Hoff”
A full list of the 12 new free channels coming to Sling's Freestream follows:
These are not the only channels Sling has added to Freestream recently In addition to these new 12 free channels, Cord Cutters News reports that 31 more channels have recently been added
This equals a lot of free TV you can watch mindlessly - and that's going to be a problem for cable and (ironically) cable alternatives like Sling
Of course, there will always be those who want cable and cable-like experiences Whether it is live sports, a free option that is difficult to provide due to cost, or simply those who feel comfortable with traditional television offerings, cable will always be attractive to some [But for many, its appeal is waning The best TV shows no longer debut on cable networks streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Max are the place to find such shows streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Max are the place to find such shows Netflix, Hulu, Max, and other streaming services are places to find such programming, and they also offer extensive movie libraries, including new releases and movies that have just been released in theaters
And now, FAST streaming services are offering thousands of hours of restful TV viewing and “comfort food” TV for free; you don't need cable TV to watch reruns of BBC America's Top Gear, which is available for free on Freestream After all, more and more people would rather supplement their paid streaming services with free ones than pay for cable as well And the more quality free channels like Freestream increase, the faster that shift will come
