Major “Deadpool & Wolverine” Cameos - All the Biggest Surprises in Detail

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is full of cameos and surprise appearances by Marvel characters. After all, we knew from promotional materials that quite a few characters were scheduled to make a comeback.

That's exactly why I wrote “fanservice” for this film: it's exactly why I wrote “movie” in my review of Deadpool & Wolverine. The majority of the screening time is devoted to having many of the characters reappear. And judging from the audience reactions I've seen and heard so far, people seem to like the surprise.

If you haven't yet experienced “Deadpool & Wolverine” for yourself, and if you've successfully dodged spoilers so far, don't click away, because knowing who's coming back will likely prevent you from enjoying some of the film's best moments.

If you really want to know who you'll be seeing again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and beyond), here are all the “Deadpool & Wolverine” cameos, surprise reveals, and variants I caught in the latest Marvel film.

WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

After digging up Wolverine's corpse from “Logan” (and using every bone in his body to eviscerate a TV station agent) and then taking the teleportation device from Mr. Paradox, Deadpool searches the multiverse for a replacement for his soon-to-be mate. He begins to fly around. During that search, he comes across a large number of bad guys before settling on the right Wolverine for the job.

They include the rather short (sorry, “comic-accurate”) Wolverine, Weapon Omega, who first appeared in X-Men: Alpha #1, and Wolverine's alter ego, Patch, an Old Man Logan variant wearing a white suit and eye patch, Wolverine crucified from the cover of Marc Silvestri's iconic Uncanny X-Men #251, including.

Deadpool also crosses paths with the brown-suited Wolverine at the soon-to-be battleground where Logan is about to wrestle the Incredible Hulk. There is another cameo in this montage: Henry Cavill as Wolverine.

Henry Cavill has dropped out of several major roles in recent years. Liam Hemsworth replaced him in “The Witcher” Season 4, and he also shed his “Man of Steel” cape to make way for David Corenswett's lead role in James Gunn's upcoming “Superman” movie.

After these departures, fans were quick to respond to his casting as other superhero characters, and some got their wish. As part of the search for Wolverine, Deadpool accidentally enters a room where Wolverine is tuning up his motorcycle with his back to the camera. He faces Deadpool and deploys his claws (reminiscent of “Arm Reload” from “Mission: Impossible/Fallout”).

X-23 (aka Laura), played by Dafne Keen, was a clone and adopted daughter of Wolverine last seen in “Logan,” burying Wolverine in that timeline and becoming one of the last cameos spoiled in marketing materials for the new film.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, she is part of the resistance against Cassandra Nova's Void domination and serves as a reminder to Valiant Wolverine that there is good in him as well.

Wesley Snipes has not played vampire hunter Blade since 2004's Blade: Trinity. Well, until now. The Blade, played by Snipes, is one of the variants collected by X-23.

And in a dig at the upcoming “Blade” movie with Mahershala Ali as Daywalker (the same MCU movie that has been repeatedly delayed), Snipes declares that he is “the only Blade that exists in the past and in the future.” Ouch.

For those who don't know, Channing Tatum was set to play Gambit for a long time, but his movie dragged on in development hell and was eventually canceled when Disney bought Fox.

In fact, “Magic Mike” Tatum was so upset about the fiasco that he could not see the Marvel film. In his words, the cancellation of “Gambit” was “too sad” (via Variety).

Now, Tatum will finally be part of the team that raids Cassandra Nova's base, wearing Gambit's coat and headgear, throwing playing cards and wielding Gambit's staff. Whether he will stay in place, however, remains to be seen.

Over a year ago, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Jennifer Garner would reprise her role as the rhino-wielding anti-hero Elektra Nathios.

Garner previously played the assassin in the 2003 film Daredevil and her own solo spin-off Elektra in 2005. Like Blade and Gambit, she is a member of the X-23 resistance and helps in the fight against Nova's loyal troops.

After being sent to the Void, Deadpool and Wolverine learn about their new surroundings from a mysterious caped figure who has been trapped here for some time.

Deadpool surmises from his impressive superhero landing that this must be a variant of Captain America, but when he throws back the cape and utters his famous catchphrase, “Flame On.”, we realize this is not Steve Rogers, Johnny Storm, aka Fantastic Four member Human Torch.

Before Deadpool can set foot in TVA, he uses Cable's time travel device to return to 2018 to join the Avengers in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

There, he is disappointed to find that his resume was not reviewed by Tony Stark, but by Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). Unfortunately, Happy rejects Deadpool's offer to join the Avengers. It remains to be seen if protecting Deadpool's timeline will be enough to make him reconsider joining the Avengers.

For the sake of brevity, as many X-Men enemies from The Void as possible are listed in one place on this list.

Throughout the film, we find Pyro, Toad, Lady Deathstrike, Callisto, Arkwright, Azazel, Psylocke, and Bullseye, all members of Cassandra Nova's (Emma Colin) loyal goon squad. There is also a juggernaut, although not played by Vinnie Jones. Nevertheless, only a few play an active role in the film.

Sorry, but the female version of Deadpool is not Taylor Swift. Instead, she is the de facto leader of the Deadpool Army. (Instead, the de facto leader of the Deadpool Army (a huge group of Deadpool variants banished to the Void) is played by Blake Lively, Reynolds' wife.

The character never takes off his mask on screen, so it is not known whether Lively was in costume or just lent her voice instead.

Outside of the film world, Ryan Reynolds of “Deadpool & Wolverine” is no doubt co-owning Wrexham AFC with Rob McElhenny of “It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” And in honor of this club, you can find “Welshpool” in a scene where Wade and Wolvey clash with other deadpools.

At the end of the film, when many Deadpool variants spill out of Dr. Strange's portal, one of them can be seen wearing a suit with a Welsh Dragon on it. Well, you may not know that Wrexham AFC player Paul Mullin is wearing that suit.

Bonus points if you spot Rob McElhenny, who appears as a TVA agent, or fellow Red Dragon Ollie Palmer, who appears as a bar patron. The Deadpool Army also seems to include another regional variant called “Canadapool” (credited to Ryan Reynolds' stunt double, Alex Kaischkovich). Speaking of other variants, ....

Along with Blake Lively's Ladypool and Welshpool, there will be a “head pool” voiced by Nathan Fillion. There is also a cowboy pool with a revolver (also known as the “Deadpool Kid”), voiced by Matthew McConaughey.

Ryan Reynolds also plays a heightened Canadian version as “False Pool,” a super-pleasant mercenary in polished armor and gold-plated firearms. And who could forget the film's real star, Dogpool?

Others include the variant “Zenpool,” who turned his back on violence in the comics, Babypool, Kidpool (voice of Reynolds and Lively's daughter Inez), Roninpool (Watari), the Golden Age Deadpool with gas mask and twin sabers, the futuristic Deadpool 2099, the nautical “Piratepool,” and so on.

It is also worth noting that the mild-mannered Peter (aka Sugar Bear) is revealed to be “Peterpool” as he brings the battle to a close.

After all, every Deadpool has a corresponding Peter, and each adores Peter as much as our Deadpool. When the Legion moves to celebrate Peter, it provides the perfect opportunity for our heroes to escape.

In a film like this, filled with cameos and references, there is bound to be something you missed. We'll look forward to the home and streaming releases of Deadpool & Wolverine.
